Short answer
Check the message and compare the order status with your payment record before retrying. A declined attempt, an unpaid order, a pending payment, and a reversal or refund require different next steps. If the records disagree, keep the references and ask the official platform or payment provider to clarify them. Separate CNCartGo agent orders follow their own checkout and fees.

Read the error before you retry
The exact error can help identify where payment stopped, but it is not a complete diagnosis. Compare the official checkout, order status and bank or payment-provider record. If they disagree, retain the references and request clarification before another payment.
Four payment statuses and the next step for each
- Declined. A payment attempt was rejected. Check whether a matching authorization or completed charge also appears, identify the reason with the relevant provider, and retry only when the prior attempt and requested verification are clear.
- Unpaid / awaiting payment. The order has not recorded a completed payment. Check its displayed payment deadline and confirm any earlier attempt before deciding whether to pay or place another order.
- Pending. The payment is still being processed or authorized. The provider may complete or reverse it according to the applicable process. Check the matching order and ask the provider to confirm the payment status before paying again.
- Reversed / refunded. A reversal and a merchant refund are different processes. Check the amount, reference and provider record before assuming that funds have returned or that a new payment is needed.
Why overseas cards fail on Chinese checkouts
Possible causes include:
- Issuer or security check. Your issuer may decline a transaction based on its current rules, spending limits or security checks. Ask it about the recorded reason.
- Verification may not have completed. Check the official payment message and ask the issuer to confirm the recorded result; a missing or timed-out prompt alone does not establish whether an amount is pending, declined or completed.
- Address or name mismatch. The billing details entered at checkout do not match what the issuer holds.
- Currency and region limits. A card restricted to a domestic region or to certain currencies will refuse an RMB transaction outright.
- The platform itself. Some Taobao payment channels are not offered to overseas accounts at all, so no card will work in that particular flow.
Understanding the awaiting-payment order status
This status means the order has not recorded a completed payment; it is not a request to pay the seller outside the official flow. Check whether the previous attempt was declined, pending or completed, and compare the amount and reference with the order. When records disagree, ask the official provider or platform to reconcile them before paying again. Check the displayed order deadline rather than relying on a fixed waiting period.
What you can actually pay with
Use only the payment methods offered for your account and order in the official Taobao checkout. International-card or wallet eligibility depends on the current checkout and provider rules; a Chinese payment method is not a universal requirement. For a separate CNCartGo order, confirm the available methods in our Payment Policy and checkout. Wallet Balance does not guarantee that a payment or purchase will succeed.
The agent route when the card will not clear
Before another payment, check the original order and any pending or completed charge. If direct checkout cannot support the purchase, send the product link to CNCartGo Buy for eligibility and quote review. An agent order is a separate purchase workflow; it does not pay an existing Taobao order in your account or remove platform security restrictions. Review the Service Fee rules before procurement. International freight is quoted separately using the packed parcel and route, including the applicable actual or volumetric weight.
What to send support for review
- The exact error text, or a screenshot of it.
- The order number, if the order was created.
- The attempted amount, currency and payment reference, with private information redacted.
- Whether the amount shows as pending or posted in your banking app.
- The product URL and variant you were trying to buy.
These details help support review the issue, but they may not establish the final payment status. If the bank and order records disagree, contact the official payment provider or platform and your issuer for reconciliation. Redact personal details from screenshots. Never send a full card number, security code, password or one-time verification code.
Pending charges and refund timing
An authorization hold, completed payment, reversal and merchant refund are different events. Release and refund timing depends on the provider, issuer and transaction status. Ask the relevant provider to explain a matching pending or completed charge before making another payment. For an unauthorized or unresolved duplicate charge, contact your issuer promptly and follow its reporting process and deadlines. Do not assume that every duplicate will clear automatically.
Safety rules worth keeping
- Never retry a payment while an identical amount is pending.
- Never send money outside a supported channel because a seller asked you to.
- If checkout loses its connection, check the order and payment records before restarting through the official site or app. Ask the provider to clarify any pending or completed amount before another attempt.
- Keep one record of everything: order number, amount, timestamp, error text.
Where the payment stopped: four layers to check
Payment problems can involve the issuer, account checks, the seller or item, and the order status. These categories help organize a review. Consult the official platform or payment provider to clarify the cause.
| Layer | Typical sign | What to do next |
|---|---|---|
| Card or bank | Your banking app shows a declined, pending or 3-D Secure attempt | Ask the issuer about that exact amount and time; enable overseas online payments; complete 3-D Secure |
| Account | Taobao or Alipay shows a verification request or a limit | Complete the official verification; do not switch cards or devices repeatedly |
| Seller or item | The total changed, the listing went offline, or the item is restricted | Re-check the live listing; a new card will not fix a seller or category block |
| Order state | The order is unpaid, closed, or already linked to a pending charge | Compare order history with your bank record before paying again |
Check the payment record: Ask your issuer whether it can identify the attempted transaction, and compare its response with the platform's order and payment records. A missing bank record alone does not establish where the attempt stopped. Keep the amount, time and reference, then ask the relevant provider to clarify the status before retrying.
After repeated payment failures
After repeated failures, stop and review the payment records instead of repeatedly changing cards or devices. Confirm the earlier attempt and any verification requirements with official support before retrying.
- Simplify the attempt: one seller, one item, one card, one device.
- Complete only the official verification for the transaction you initiated. Confirm the earlier attempt's status before retrying.
- If it fails again, stop. Screenshot the message, note the order number, amount and time, and check your bank app.
- Ask the provider to confirm the status and expected next step for any pending amount before paying for the same item again. Use the provider's case-specific timing rather than assuming a fixed release period.
Check your issuer and destination requirements
Payment verification and card settings depend on your issuer, account and order. Follow the official verification request and ask the issuer about the recorded reason for a failed attempt. A missing approval prompt alone does not identify the final transaction status. Check destination import charges separately when planning delivery.
When to stop retrying and let us buy it for you
If direct checkout cannot support the purchase, CNCartGo can review an eligible buying-agent request. Product availability and payment approval are not guaranteed. Check the payment methods and charges offered for your CNCartGo order before paying. Send us:
- The live product link (not a screenshot)
- The exact colour, size, model and quantity, copied from the listing
- Your destination country and city
- Whether the item contains batteries, liquids, powders or magnets, so we can check shipping restrictions first
An agent order is a separate purchase. It does not repair or pay an existing order in your own Taobao account, so cancel or confirm that order first. International shipping is paid separately after the parcel is weighed at our warehouse.

Charge and refund questions
My card was charged but the Taobao order still says unpaid. What now?
Keep the payment record and order reference. Ask the official payment provider and platform to reconcile the matching amount and status before paying again. Do not assume that a pending charge will reverse automatically.
Can CNCartGo remove a payment restriction on my Taobao account?
No. CNCartGo cannot remove restrictions from your Taobao account. An eligible buying-agent request is a separate order with its own checkout, payment checks and fees. Confirm the status of any earlier payment first; a separate order does not guarantee payment approval or product availability.
Does paying for the product include international shipping?
No. You pay the item price, China domestic delivery and our service fee first. International shipping is quoted and paid after the parcel arrives at our warehouse and is weighed.
Frequently asked
Will switching cards help? It may help if another supported card meets the checkout and issuer requirements, but acceptance is not guaranteed. First confirm the status of the earlier attempt and the reason for the failure. Can I pay after the payment window closes? Check the order status and the options shown by the platform. If the order has closed, confirm any earlier payment or refund before creating a replacement order. Does a failed payment still reserve my item? Do not assume that an unpaid order reserves stock. Check the current order status and seller information; availability can change before a purchase is completed. How long does a refund take? Timing depends on whether the payment is pending, completed, reversed or refunded, and on the provider and issuer. Check the transaction record and the applicable refund guidance. If the expected change does not appear, contact the official provider or issuer with the order and payment references.
Before the next payment
Check the payment record, order status and exact error before deciding the next step. Use the official verification and support channels, keep the references, and confirm the status of any earlier charge. If direct checkout is unsuitable, review an eligible separate buying-agent order before committing to it.
