A Taobao seller who splits one order into two parcels has not cancelled anything. What changes is the paper trail: two domestic tracking numbers, two intake records, and one decision about whether the pair travels to you together or separately.

Short answer
A split Taobao order is a paperwork problem, not a cancellation: one order now has two domestic tracking numbers and two warehouse intake records. Register both numbers against the same order, check both intake photo sets, and decide whether to hold the first carton or send it. Consolidation and 100 days of free storage usually keep both halves together.
Why a seller splits an order
Splits are usually practical: the item does not fit inside one carton, part of the order sits in another city, or the seller packs a fragile piece alone. The reason matters less than the record you keep. Treat the second carton as a parcel with its own identity, not as a delay in the first one.
One order, two tracking numbers, one folder
Keep the order page, the selected variant, the seller's message about the split, and both domestic tracking numbers in the same folder. When a number shows as delivered, match it to the intake record for that specific carton. A carton that arrives without a matching order line is where most avoidable disputes start.
What the intake photographs have to show
For each carton, the record should show the sealed box, the shipping label, the contents laid out, and any visible damage. On a split order, review both parcels side by side before approving anything: the point of the split is that the item set was divided, so the question is whether every half is present and matches what was ordered.
Hold the first carton, or ship what has landed?
Storage at the warehouse is free for 100 days from intake, and from day 101 the fee is ¥0.1 per parcel per day up to a maximum of 180 days. That window is normally long enough to wait for the second carton and consolidate the two into one international shipment, which is usually cheaper and leaves less room for a missing half. Shipping the first parcel early is a fair choice when the item is urgent, but the second parcel then becomes its own export with its own declaration.
Declaring a split order
A split does not divide the value of the order. Keep the payment record and the order total together in the folder even when the cartons leave on different dates, so the declared value of each shipment can be explained against the same purchase. Destination thresholds apply per shipment: the US $800 de minimis exemption ended for all countries on 29 August 2025, and Australia charges GST from the first dollar, so there is no small-value line to plan around.
Approval checklist for a split order
- Both domestic tracking numbers matched to the same Taobao order
- Seller message about the split saved next to the order page
- Intake photos of each carton checked for contents, accessories and damage
- Decision recorded: consolidate together or export separately
- Packing request confirmed for the combined parcel before export
- Declaration wording and value evidence aligned with the original order
If only one carton ever arrives
Occasionally the second domestic parcel is lost or returned to the seller while the first is already sitting at the warehouse. Do not export the first carton in the hope that the second will catch up: ask the seller for the domestic carrier's record on the missing parcel, and decide whether the order is to be completed, refunded or replaced before anything leaves China. A parcel shipped abroad cannot be topped up afterwards, and recovering a missing item across borders is far more expensive than resolving it inside the domestic leg.
After approval: who does what
The service fee is 6-15% of the item value and freight is billed separately, settled up or down once the packed parcel is weighed; quotes and orders start at /en/buy/. Payment is by card through Stripe or from a Wallet Balance, and CNCartGo does not support PayPal. Transit then follows the line you pick: express in 5-10 working days, postal in 10-25, economy in 20-35.
A split only becomes a problem when it is handled as one shipment with two tracking numbers. Give each carton its own record, wait at the warehouse until both are complete, and the split turns into a detail rather than a risk.
